My Project for “Photography Intensive: From Capture through Post Processing”

Posted in: Photography

As a photographer, I am always looking to enhance my skills, knowledge, and creative side. I recently participated in a 6-week photography course offered by the Johns Hopkins Odyssey program entitled “Photography Intensive: From Capture through Post Processing” with Phyllis Berger. I have participated in other Odyssey photography courses with Mrs. Berger as the instructor. She has her own computer lab at the Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus. She is a great teacher and has exceptional photographer’s eye and skills.

In the course, we concentrated on all aspects of photography from exposure, composition, HDR Photography, Black and White Photography, Lightroom, Photoshop. We ventured out of the computer lab and took a field trip to Peabody Institute, Mount Vernon, and other surrounding areas around Baltimore. We used our creativity and personal styles to capture all kinds of scenes and moments. We also had the opportunity to meet and photograph a variety of interesting individuals living in and around the area. In May, the class is heading to Rehoboth Beach Delaware for a photographer’s weekend. We will be spending the weekend (from sunrise to sunset) taking photographs of the Delaware region. I am really looking forward to this trip.

One of the course requirements was to create a project using our photography and processing skills. The project could be about any subject matter. I decided to do my project on the “Clothing”. I used a variety of photographs from my own collections, images from the internet, and even had my amazing Goddaughter Allora be a model. I submitted my project to my instructor for her critique. Below are her comments:

“Phenomenal. I love it. Your processing and photography skills are fantastic and I love the subject matter.
